The look of oak or stone, built for real life
Luxury vinyl tile is a layered floor: a textured, photographic wear layer bonded to a stable core. Done well, it reads as aged oak, limestone or polished concrete, while being warm underfoot, quiet, waterproof and far more forgiving than the material it imitates.
It is the floor most people now mean when they ask for the look of wood without the upkeep, and it is one of the two floors we have chosen to specialise in.
Premium ranges, chosen in your own home
The difference between an ordinary vinyl floor and a premium LVT floor is in the detail: the depth of the texture, how convincingly the grain varies from plank to plank, how the bevelled edges catch the light. We fit premium design ranges, including Karndean, and we also repair existing Karndean floors.
We bring the samples to you. A plank that looks perfect under a showroom spotlight can look like a different product next to your own kitchen units in a north-facing room, so we choose in the room it is going into.
Pattern is a decision, not an afterthought
The same plank laid three ways gives you three different rooms:
- Herringbone: the 45-degree zig-zag that makes a hallway or kitchen look considered, and the pattern we are asked for most.
- Chevron: planks cut to meet in a point. Sharper and more formal than herringbone.
- Plank: long boards run with the light or the length of the room, for open-plan spaces where you want calm rather than pattern.
See our herringbone and chevron page for how pattern floors are set out.
Flat is everything
LVT is only ever as flat as what is underneath it. Because the material is comparatively thin, every ridge, screw head or dip telegraphs through to the surface, sometimes straight away, sometimes six months later when the low winter light rakes across the room.
So the preparation is not an optional extra quoted separately to keep the headline price down. Depending on what we find, that means latex screeding, smoothing, levelling or a damp proof membrane, done by us and priced into your quotation before you commit.
The detail you notice later
A premium floor is judged at its edges: how it meets the skirting, the thresholds, the stairs and the fireplace. Our customers mention it. One had the grout and silicone colour-matched to her fireplace tiles; another told us we measured "down to the T" so there was no waste.
How a job runs
- Home visit. We measure carefully, survey the subfloor and talk through product, pattern, colour and thresholds.
- Written quotation, with the preparation your floor actually needs included.
- Fitting day. We lift and dispose of the old covering, prepare the subfloor, lay the floor and clean up properly before we leave.
Most single rooms are a day. A full ground floor in herringbone is usually two or more, because a pattern floor cannot be rushed without it showing.
Where we work
We fit premium LVT throughout Newark-on-Trent and across the East Midlands: Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire and Leicestershire. Flexible payment options are available on domestic work.
